The holidays are upon us.  It is the time of year where we gather with our loved ones and reflect on the memories made and treasured troughout the year. 

As a photographer, I have the great honor of capturing some of these moments for my clients…births, weddings and many other magical moments.  I know why I do what I do.  I love to witness each unique moment in time.  But I want to know what photos mean to You.  Why do you choose to have your family portraits taken?  What is your desired legacy? I had the pleasure of photographing this little guy the other day.  He has the most beautiful eyes, deep with *gorgeous* eyelashes.  He’s a heartbreaker already at just 8 months old!  Thank you Dante and Sandra for allowing me to capture your family!

I am passing along a call for donations to the Women’s Shelter of South Texas.   They were chosen as one of the foundations to receive a 100% match on all donations received today.   Your donation goes directly to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault so they can receive free services to improve their life and the lives of their families. Be an active part in the movement to end the epidemic of domestic and sexual violence, give adult and child victims the hope for a brighter tomorrow.

Here are how donations at various giving levels benefit the Women’s Shelter of South Texas:
 
·         $5 provides a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner for a mother and her three children staying in our shelter for one day.
 
·         $25 educates 44 youth about the dangers of dating and sexual violence in our community through our primary prevention programming.
 
·         $100 allows a child or adult domestic violence or sexual assault victim to receive 4 ½  sessions of one on one counseling with a licensed counselor on our staff.

I had the pleasure of photographing this little beauty.  She gave me a run for my money but we pulled out all the stops and finally got her to sleep for a bit.

I took a few shots, adjusted my camera, got up to move a few things around, and I looked at her and found this…
her hands all tucked up by her face…her squishy pouty lips.  I *love* this one.

And with Lucy’s arrival, it means this lovely little lady, Laney, is a big sister now!

Apparantly I am not as proficient at WordPress coding as I thought, so my updates are taking longer than I thought.   In my attempt to customize, I had a few “uh-oh” moments over the weekend where I thought I had completely erased my blog.   Ooops!  Thank you for being patient while I work out the kinks.

Today, October 15th, is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. I am thinking about the families that I have served with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep and the sweet little souls that have become a part of me. I carry their memory with me and am forever changed because of them.
